It’s Not About Me—It’s About the Message

I’ve never written to win awards or to be named Writer of the Year. That was never the goal. Writing, for me, started as therapy—an outlet to process my thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Over time, it became something more: a way to help others.

But after a recent conversation at dinner, I realized something important. Someone told me, “I love your writing,” and it made me pause. I hope that what truly resonates isn’t how I write but what I’m saying. Because in today’s world, tools like AI make writing accessible to everyone—not just professionals.

Here’s the truth: I use AI to edit my blogs. I wanted to be upfront about that. I pour my thoughts onto the page—unedited, raw, and sometimes messy. AI helps me clean it up, corrects my spelling, tightens my message, and ensures that what I want to share comes across clearly. That’s all. The experiences, the ideas, the emotions—they’re mine. AI just helps me package them in a way that makes them easier to read.

And isn’t that what editors and publishers do for authors? Most books we love don’t come straight from the writer’s pen to the page. They go through editors who refine them so we stay engaged and can fully appreciate the story. Some of those books even become movies that reach millions. I see AI as doing something similar—it doesn’t replace my voice; it just helps make it readable.

For me, writing isn’t about being in the spotlight or getting attention. Anyone who knows me personally knows I’ll talk your ear off in person, always ready to share a story or experience. But my real passion is helping others. That’s why I write—to share what I’ve learned, to offer something that might help someone else on their journey.

I also want to encourage you to do the same. Share your thoughts, your experiences, your wisdom. Because at the end of the day, we don’t take material things with us when we move on. But we can leave behind our stories, our lessons, our perspectives—things that will last forever.

So, put your thoughts out there. Whether you write them yourself, dictate them, or use AI to refine them—it doesn’t matter. What matters is the message, not the presenter. And if you do write something, I promise—I’ll read it. Or, if my MS isn’t cooperating that day, I’ll have AI read it to me.

Thanks to all my great friends and neighbors here at The Palms for your encouragement.

Thanks for reading, and most of all, thanks for listening to the message
